Sometimes you gotta just sneak away for a bit. Jetblue was basically giving tickets away and before they discovered the glitch I made sure to purchase my ticket to Barbados. Why not gather the girls for an epic weekend? I let the Bajan Beauties know and they sounded the alarm. It was Turn Up time.
One of the things I love about Barbados is the scenery. It is basically living in a screensaver. The sky is so bright and the sea is so clear. You can't help but just want to stay in this moment and take it all in, I'll give you a minute:
And we're back!
It's pretty easy to get lost in the beauty this country has to offer. Which got me thinking: What must it be like for citizens when their country is someone else's playground? I feel like people come to NYC with dreams of making it big, or making it all. NYC is industrious, loud, big, noisy. People may come to New York City to escape; the good and the bad but you don't come to NYC to find Peace. Barbados' tourism is built on being the Gem of the Caribbean, which it is but real life happens here too.
People are living lives, they are going through things, they don't get to leave because the vacation time is up. This made me want to gather the girls and have a talk about what it's like to live in Paradise. A lot of things came up; Boyfriends, Girlfriends or lack thereof, the Life in Leggings movement, haters, Chivalry and a whole lot more. Of course this was fueled by booze so it goes pretty loose. Well, I know I did. And from this talk, the second episode of the Square with Curves podcast was born. I'm so happy I decided to hit record because these girls we being open and honest and sharing their perspectives from a tiny island in a big world.

We all deal with insecurities that may get the best of us. They were vulnerable enough to share that with me. They shared with me that even if married with children, in a relationship, single and looking or single and loving it, we are all in this together. We deal with all of the same issues because we are united by womanhood.
I'm proud to have these girls in my gang. They are all striving to do more, do better. From Doctorate degrees, to moving overseas and starting anew, these women are thinking of ways to better themselves and those around them. One is making moves to live off her own land and grown her own food. Dis gals no play! And I'm giving them a shout because Squares build each other up and give credit where it's due. Ya'll are slaying down there and the world isn't ready. Don't sleep on them island girls, they ready to f*** shit up! Squares Activate!
