Looking for an apartment can have you going through so many emotions at a time:
grief, excitement, anxiety, joy, rage, triumph, dismay, betrayal and then just plain on weary.
I'm in the midst of my own search now and have felt all of the above at least 6 times a day...in that order. It's tough and I'll have to make A LOT of concessions but I'll get the place that best fits me. But it got me thinking, NYC will soon become the Rodeo Drive of the East Coast. People will visit and shop but no one will actually LIVE here. This will be the land of pied-à-terres and Air BnBs. Finding a New Yorker, born and bred here, will be like finding a unicorn with a tail made of spun gold. It will be the stuff of fairy tales!
As of now, I'll be a unicorn. But I just wanted to share one of the best listings I've seen recently. This is a one bedroom in East Williamsburg (the part of Bushwick they renamed so they can stick you for your paper) going for $2,000 as of the writing of this post. I guess you have to pay for the convenience of being able to watch a pot you have on the stove from the shower, because they are in the same room!
Maybe no one will be tickled by this but me, but this is crazy! This unit will probably be off the market soon and bless the person who is shelling out 2G's a month to shower in the kitchen.
You guys seen any tomfoolery in the streets when it comes to real estate? Let me know!
