A couple of weeks ago, I got to live out my #giglife and perform at the 2nd Annual 90s Fest on Governor's Island. Needless to say, I got my entire life!
Listen to the little voice inside you. The one that tells you to do something you want to do. The one that won't shut up no matter how much you ignore it.
About four years ago, I wanted to start dancing again. So I went online and found this class: Bodyroll Workout and it's been one of the best things I've ever done in my life. It's a 90's Aerobics dance class. So I get to dance, workout and listen to bonafide hits?! Yes please!
Long story short: I went to the class, loved it and the instructor and I have become friends. Through her, I've had the opportunity to perform on tv sets, morning raves, summer festivals and who knows what else!
Because of a random yelp review, and having the gall to go into a place where I knew no one and hiding in the back, all of this has come to fruition.
From one class, I've gotten so many opportunities and have met so many fun people. I never would've imagined that I would be on a stage in front of 3,000+ people in a leotard getting the party started. NEVER!
But it happened, all because I took a chance and stepped out of my comfort zone. I went to the first class alone and it has blossomed into a side gig!
So I want you to try to do that one thing you may be afraid to do. Especially, if it's an activity you're passionate about. If you can't find a friend to go with you, go alone, be brave. Go take that photography class, that cooking class. Try that tumbling class or join that book club. Who knows what can come of it. It could be the first step into the full life you know you want.
Tell me what are some of the things you like to do?
