New Year, New Me, Who Dis?

Here we go again! The time has come for the reemergence of the reinvention. As 2017 wraps up, we all look forward to what the new year will bring. Will it bring the same old shit? Maybe, I mean that's true to a certain degree. If you're happy with where you're at, there's no reason to NOT marinate in that. I'm all for upward mobility and always working towards bigger and better goals; but I also think that you are allowed to rest on your laurels for a little bit.

I think we can get caught up with MORE, BEING BETTER, GETTING BIGGER AND BUILDING. These are all good things. However, I think if you had a stellar 2017, maintaining that in 2018 may be enough. Maybe you just got a new job; it's good to take this year to learn the ropes. You don't have to already be thinking of the next promotion. Focus on learning your current situation and excelling at that for a bit. Thinking ahead is good but you have to enjoy the goals you've reached, continuing to shoot up for the stars is fantastic but expanding in your space is also a boon. Lateral moves are just as important as vertical moves. I'll unpack that further in a future post, but I just wanted to share a quick note before this year is gone:

We made it! 2017 didn't beat us. It made us better, stronger, smarter and tougher. We may have taken some knocks but we didn't stay down.

That in itself is a victory.

However, I also know that 2017 was a successful year for me. I will not expel it like a disrespectful child, it treated me well, so I will thank it for being benevolent towards me. I can only hope that 2018 takes the baton from 2017 and runs with it! I am ready to see what this new year has up its sleeve. There may be good, there may be bad but whatever comes will be met with strength, faith, optimism and grit.

I'm going to enjoy my family and some pernil today, so this will be short and sweet. I want to wish every single one of you a prosperous new year! I want you to do everything you want to do this year. DO IT! Get out there and live your life because 2018 may be our last...I mean I hope it isn't but we just don't know. So go forth and slay!!
