Hey Ya'll Hey!
It's been a long time and I shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to....
It's been a minute since I've had the energy to share anything. The last couple of months have been a real roller coaster. Between my health, my finances and my living situation I was just OVER IT! However, I took a step back and really cut back on a lot of unnecessary things. You know how much I like to tell you to say no, so I had to practice what I preached and RECLAIM MY TIME!
On the health front, I've been dealing with a shoulder injury that is just nagging. I tore my rotator cuff came to realize very quickly how much I relied on my body to bring me joy. I've been doing physical therapy and it's made it much better, but losing the range of motion that I took for granted was hard. I was unable to dance the way I wanted or train at the gym the way I wanted. It started to affect my mood. I'm so used to giving everything I do 100% and now I was being forced to slow it down. It took it's toll.
Without being able to do the thing that keeps me energized and sane (dance and fitness). I was pretty much foaming at the mouth.
I felt sluggish and uninspired; add to that the anxiety that comes with finding a new home! I've been searching for a place for about two years now; when I moved out of my apartment in The Bronx, I knew it would be the last time I would be renting. NYC rent is out of control, I've moved out of my last two apartments because I got priced out of each within a year. One year! This just wasn't sustainable for me. I couldn't keep throwing away thousands of dollars in moving expenses and rent with nothing to show for it. So I buckled down and did my research and realized that I could afford a mortgage in NYC.
It sounds ludicrous but for the same amount I would have to pay in rent, I would rather pay that in a mortgage and build some equity. So I did just that. I closed on and moved into my new condo last month and it's been such an adventure. Having my own place again (I was living with my mom for those two years) is a piece of myself that I had been missing. I enjoy the solitude, it does to me what the sun does to Superman.
This is getting long, I just wanted to let you know that your Square is back! And she's getting into the swing of things. I've learned a lot and am still figuring a lot out and I'll be sharing along the way. Summer 2018 is lit and it hasn't even started yet. So take a deep breath and let's get it poppin!
